CROWNING GLORY

Meghan Markle seen in fits of giggles as she’s ‘crowned’ with an Instagram filter in unseen footage from royal tour

MEGHAN Markle erupted into fits of giggles on her royal tour of Africa when she was “crowned” with an Instagram filter during the trip.

In a previously unseen clip from Cape Town, the Duchess of Sussex, 38, was taken by surprise when she saw her appearance in a phone which featured the colourful headpiece.

The sweet moment took place on the final day of the 10-day tour as mum-of-one Meghan attended a business reception in Johannesburg.

The Instagram clip featured one of hair artist Nikiwe Dlova's real life 'crown' designs which was virtually projected onto the royal using a filter made by artist Maxwell Mutanda.

Last week, Maxwell shared the sweet video on Instagram showing the duchess beaming as she sees herself ‘wearing’ the headpiece on the screen.

The artist added the caption: “Yesterday at an event hosted by @ukinsouthafrica, @sussexroyal tried out the @instagram #facefilter that @will.hurt, @nix_indamix and I have been collaborating on for the past couple of weeks.”

Headpiece creator Nikiwe added: “Lastly she [Meghan] owned her crown with our Instagram filter we collaborated on with @will.hurt and @maxwellmutanda she loved it!!

"When she looked away she realized it was the same headpiece I was holding! This is an experience I will never forget!!! Thank you again.”

The video emerged after Meghan and Harry attended a creative industries and business reception, which took place at the residence of Britain's High Commissioner to South Africa Nigel Casey in Johannesburg.

Over 300 guests gathered at the event, which celebrated the UK and South Africa’s business relationship.

Meghan used to have a personal Instagram account when she was starring in Suits as an actress, but deleted it when she married Prince Harry, 35.

When she was uploading her own posts she’d include a number of selfies and snaps from her A-list life.

She now has a joint Instagram account, SussexRoyal, with Prince Harry and has so far avoided the use of any filters on her pictures.
